I had an Uncle that fought in WWII and then retired.
Appointed by President Nixon for some high up civilian position on the Navy base in San Diego, CA.

Great-Grandfather achieved the rank of Colonel in the Army. He was a quartermaster, I believe he scored high enough to be infantry but the Army said he was too old when he joined so he was put in logistics. Served in WWII and Korea. We’ve still got maps marking gravesites that he was in charge of in Korea. Never got to meet him. He died of lung cancer years before I was born.

Great grandfather through marriage was a 4 star general.
"he was responsible for the command and control of all active and reserve forces in the Six Armies of the Continental United States from 1967 to 1970."
Is that good?

I achieved the highest sham rank in the US Army. Took a lot out of me to get there.

Do you know how hard it is to achieve this rank? LOL, not many 5 star generals walking around for example.

My grandpa was a brigadier general in the la guard. Went from private to general. WW2 vet. CIB, silver star, bronze star. When his career ended he was doing the job of a 2 star but never did receive that second star due to political bullshite.

I have a distant cousin whom i’ve never met who is a major general in the air force.

My uncle is a retired E9,Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force. I know after 20 years or so he transitioned into full time air national guard and retired after that.

Winston Sabitch was killed in the Argonne Forest in 1918. A zeppelin landed on his head, smashing his head clean out of his arse. That's my grandad. Rest in pieces.

My uncle was a Chief Master Sgt. in the Air Force and was a Senior Enlisted Advisor. He worked in the Pentagon and went back to the Pentagon after retiring.

Grandfather retired Air Force as a Master Sergeant
Uncle retired Navy, I believe he was a Senior Chief.

E9 is arguably more impressive than any O-rank below full bird colonel. Anyone who disagrees can meet me at Sonic for knuckle checks and a triple chocolate Blast
Can someone explain this to me? My late father was an E-9 in Navy, serving as machinist mate on carriers. Enlisted after HS and retired after 25 years before going into family business.
Based on comments, I guess I didn’t fully appreciate his E-9 ranking (since it wasn’t an officer tag) but seems I have even more reason to be proud of my old man.

Uncle was a Captain in JAG, (not sure how he stayed sober enough to serve) Father a sergeant ( Army) and brother a corporal (Marine). Going back a couple hundred years its higher than that but doubt that's the question.
