That's not that lucrative. Garbage men in NYC make $300k and collect a pension.

The highest you'll move is managing a bunch of other high school graduates. Safe to say you'll probably never wear a suit to work.

i started working in the ship yards to help pay my way through college and then realized that worked for me.

I got my degree but have stayed on as a dock worker ever since.

it sucks sometimes because the work isn't always as stable as you'd like.

I know a lot of people who either aren't happy at their job or struggled to find work for awhile after college too though.

it's really just about working hard at what ever you do.

make sure you don't find yourself asking what if. Just try your best at what ever you are doing.

I did 2 years of college, but didn't finish.

I finished one career in 2010, and started a new one. I finished a degree last spring because it was an easy jump with the credits I had. Now I am currently working on a second one that I really want. I'm hoping it will equal more $$.

Joined the navy after high school. Became an ironworker after the navy. Got into welding inspection after close to 20 years as an ironworker. I did welding inspection and dimensional inspection for close to 15 years until diabetes got the better of me. I also spent 10 years teaching blueprint reading for the ironworkers apprenticeship programs which I really enjoyed.
I was really enjoying life until my diabetic complications flared up.

Wtf is a plant? I have never heard of a workplace in the south, southwest, or west coast referred to as a plant. Unless you are talking about a nuclear plant. Is there a nuclear plant on every god damn block in southern LA?

No college. I own two companies and make bank. The most important thing is I love what I do. Pretty college boys hate people like me.

They are probably referring to the oil refineries cause many ppl call them plants....and yes they are pretty much on every block in south LA.

Not a single hour in college. Worked on the rigs for 10 years after a few other jobs didn't pan out. Now I do app administration for an oil company.

With a degree, I'd be making more, but I also don't have any college debt. It's provided very well for us.
