Who has it harder: Black kid from poor family or a white kid?

I think you'd have to be a bit naive to think there is absolutely no discrimination against blacks. On the other hand, being black and poor go hand in hand. Nothing unusual about it and most of your peers are also going to be poor. Whereas a poor white kid around his peers is going to be a bit of an outsider.
When poor I mean both kids come from households making about the poverty level.
I think I'd still rather be the white kid but I bet growing up is a bit harder.

Depends. If they both make a 4.0 and 33 Act the black kid gets to go to Harvard for free and the white kid gets to rack up student loans at a state school. If they both find skilled labor work then the white kid.

Nah, if that white kid is resourceful at all he/she could find some schollys somewhere. You're right it won't be Harvard but there will be plenty of help available.

I was the white kid who grew up poor. While the “problems” between poor white and poor blacks have commonality....I can tell you I think I had advantages being white in that I was provided opportunity that my black friends were not given.

Being poor sucks regardless of race. I would choose being black if it would guarantee me being wealthy.

All those type factors are the same for both black and white kid. Not sure how it would matter which kid's father wasn't around. It would suck for either.
