I'm indifferent. Don't hate it, don't like it. I know some people well into their 40s and they have it marked down and hold vigil every year until it arrives. I've been to over 100 parades at this point and am just burned out now. In high school and college it was fun, but I have responsibilities now lol.

I really never tire of it. I get together with family and friends on St.Charles....hate going to the Quarter though...so I don't

Where you going?
Heading to MSY now, leaving for Vegas in 3 hours. Hoping the airport isn't too crazy.
Mardi Gras is fine, not really my thing, but I grew up in MT so didn't grow up going yearly.

Busy weekend here. NASCAR, NHL, rodeo, UFC and international rugby.
We did have a parade last night...even if there wasn't much in the way of throws.
NASCAR haulers parade

Mardi Gras is one of those things that everyone should experience once in their life but not twice.
Kind of like Talladega

So which is it, you live in HOU or near NOLA?
I have family that moved to Whitefish area that we're staying with right outside of Glacier NP. Top 3 national park in the country imo. Whered you live?

I live in BR now, moved from Houston about 7 years ago.
Grew up in Bozeman. Never skied up where you're going. I've only been to Big Sky and Bridger Bowl because they were so close.

I've hated it ever since I turned 21. St Patty's is where it's at.

Things I do not love:
Being surrounded by drunk trash
Being asked for money by beggars
Port-o-lets
Police presence
Shootings
Dense crowds
Parking issues
Getting mugged
Essentially everything that comes with Mardi Gras

More than one way to experience MG.
Of course there is the drunken side in FQ. But doing the Galas/ balls is completely different experience. So is riding in a parade. So is hanging Uptown at a house party. So is taking the kids to Metairie and watch them have a blast all night.
Until you have experienced MG in all it has to offer, I don’t feel you can accurately give an opinion that is worth anything.

Thats fair
I never get tired of going to the balls and imagine once we have kids that itll be worth the enjoyment they get out of going to the parades while theyre young.

i used to be big into mardi gras. now, i despise it. the traffic, the crowds, the music... get off my lawn !
Posted on 3/1/19 at 12:24 pm to 225bred
Me. Been before, and that was enough.
Fighting those crowds and traffic for the opportunity to get drunk and beg for trinkets seems a little more stupid, as time goes by.
