Son of a friend had a full ride scholarship to LSU to study engineering. Lived it up way too much, lost the scholarship and then flunked out. Ended up with a general studies from ULL !

Did the dude get the PHD on a boat load of student loans? Like he said the education is paid for, only to expect the girls dad to pay for everything?

I wonder if it depresses Bruce Jenner to know how genetically gifted and driven he was only to have a bunch of no talent arse clowns for kids. Even the Brodie kid looks put together and seems ok but is basically irrelevant outside of being on a secondary cast of an MTV reality show.

The surprising thing was that it was a great neighborhood, with loving families (for the most part). But you had to be tough. It was eclectic mix of kids and families -- I can't really pinpoint why so many died young. Earlier this year a guy who I didn't know who lived on my old street tried to kill himself by turning on the gas in his house and then lighting a cigarette. It blew his house up as well as the side of his neighbor's house, but he survived.

This guy was a machine in the casinos. He had a system of blackjack and no matter how drunk he got he could stick to the plan. We would go gambling and he would come back with 10s of thousands of dollars. I really had some good times with him. The girl really loved him but when they found out he was bullsheeting them, he lost the girl. It was a meteoric fall.

Expose him how? Rake him over the coals how? Destroyed him personally how? What do you mean he wasn't half the man he once was? Didn't you say he was drunk at the Grove when you saw him? People tend to look a lot shittier when they are drunk. This story sounds extremely exaggerated or you just left out every detail of importance.

Just guessing here, but maybe their exposing his background made him unemployable for academic or other high level jobs that a PhD would seek.

An old school friend of mine killed himself rather than face thirty years on drug charges. He was one of the more popular kids in school, but obviously, made some terrible choices.

I almost believed you until...

If he was really the only dude in history to beat the casino why didn't he just do that all the time and the. He would be wealthy enough for the girl? Story doesn't add up, unless he went to the casino with 20's of thousands and came home with 10's of thousands which is much more plausible for 99.99% of everyone

some guy at my work committed suicide a few months ago. He was a VP, probably made 400k, had a 3 year old daughter.

It was really depressing.

2 friends from high school.

Friend 1 was an honors student. Went to UT and his parents were paying for everything. Rich family. He dropped out after his freshmen year with what has to be a record-low GPA. As he was doing a keg stand that first party we went to in Austin... I pondered our futures.

He now lives in a trailer in Baton Rouge. Last we talked he was on his way to clean up trash after an LSU baseball game, for extra money.

Friend 2 was just as smart but stayed closer to home for college. Got a degree with honors in finance. After a divorce, he freaked and moved to Ft. Myers and came back a pothead. Ended up in rehab, couldn't get hired as a broker anymore, etc. Haven't talked in a while.
