Gtfo out if here man. That's nothing to do with living in BR. That has everything to do with working for big oil. Which is available almost anywhere

Red Zeppelin is not bad at all. Their by-the-slice lunch special is a good deal.
BREC waste a ton of money, grabs to greedily for land, and some of it's facilities are a lot more unsafe than most realize (like the zoo). If BREC is really that much better than the same type organization other places have, I'm really sorry for those places.
I wouldn't live in Houston or it's surrounding area for almost any amount of money.

Middle of sportsman's paradise. Great hunting and fishing all around in less than 3-4 hour drive.

The Baton Rouge Area Foundation sponsors the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence each year. Past presenters have included Courtney Vance and Cecile Tyson. Also Theater Baton Rouge (used to be Baton Rouge Little Theater) does some nice performances every year.
Then there's the annual Baton Rouge Blues Festival, for free.

There are great looking women around town and some restaurants I miss but nothing else that would ever make me want to go back to BR after my 7 years there. I did enjoy my undergrad years but I was ready to move immediately after that.

I find the people of Baton Rouge to be infectious. Seemed like most people were willing to help out each other. It had a lot of small town charm but without the "always in your business" mindset I experienced back home in Lafayette.
