Do any of them turn out to even have 3% Amerindian ancestry when tested? Do almost all of them turn out to be exactly 0.00% Amerindian? Even if they really are 1/32 or 1/64 Amerindian, why do they care about such small amounts of blood? Do any of them actually turn out to have small amounts of African ancestry? (I.e. They had a 1/4 or 1/8 black ancestor who faked Amerindian blood in order to "pass")

Are actual Cherokees insulted by all the people who claim to be Cherokee?

I care about other peoples Indian heritage as much as I care about my Irish heritage. Very little.

So embarrassing. Almost all white people from the south are Irish or Scottish. With like 1% west African because that's where we migrated from. We booted the Natives, and didn't have time to breed them.

honestly, those who I know who thought they had native American blood and used one of the DNA testing services all were surprised to find that they had no native American DNA at all. I think it is one of those things that people convinced themselves of through the generations, but seldom is the truth.

This site alone has made me laugh my arse off at how many people claim to have Indian blood down the line. I've seen multiple heritage threads where gobs of people swear they are part Indian.

Most white people claiming they have a small percentage of Native American ancestry are douchbags.

I'm guessing a lot have Turkish/Greek ancestry as well as 1/32 or 1/64 black.

And down South, it's almost always Cherokee and always in some small fraction like 1/64th or some bullshite similar.

1/4 Indian. My grandfather was half Cherokee and half Choctaw. I actually lived on a reservation in Oklahoma for awhile when I was a toddler. That being said, I look super white as my other three grandparents were English, Irish, and German in origin. I really didn't have much to do with that side of my family after my parents divorced so I don't lay any cultural claims like Pocahontas.

If you pay for the rights to call them that it's cool. For example, Florida St pays the Seminole tribe for the right to use their name as a mascot.

I'm a whitey, but my first cousin is 100% Ute Indian. He is adopted. He is about 6'4" and 300 lbs with a big Southern accent. It is pretty hilarious when people met him and hear him talk for the first time.

My great grandmother was half Creek. Her mother was full blood Indian. I don't know what that makes me. My dad never seemed to give a damn about it, so it was never a big deal to me.

East Tennessee /Western Carolina, you can meet quite a few of the Eastern Cherokees with thick Southern accents. But, you can tell by the way they look that they are legit Native.

shite. I was coming here to post a troll thread I could deal with on Monday. Now I am in a $5 Indian thread I will have to explain tomorrow. The OT respects nobodies
time.

Anyway, for five dollars when I was growing up, you could become a Cherokee Indian. If you paid the 5 you got the free government cheese and some other bullshite.

Last I took note, if your Daddy paid that $5, you get $80,000 EIGHTY THOUSAND DOLLARS when you turn 18.

It was traced and apparently documentation was found by my cousin showing that we have a Native American ancestor from the 18th century. And this means exactly nothing. It is a completely negligible part of my ancestry if it would even show up at all in a DNA test.

I guess that people like to claim it because it sounds exotic. I know some people who are, like me, white as frick and put some emphasis on their Native American ancestry. Just kind of a smh sort of thing.
