To be fair, the white guy assaulted him first, he just missed. And the black guy could easily assume he was going to assault him again.

That was not a sucker punch. A sucker punch is when someone goes up to a person, has no idea what is about to happen and then all of a sudden they get hit unable to defend themselves.

This is a stereotype I have only heard about on this board. Ive seen white dudes throw a haymaker on someone who had no idea it was coming. I've seen several white guys go up to someone then all of a sudden they are beating that person's arse. I think it might be more of a city vs rural thing.
There is more of a gang mentality from people in the cities.. In the streets. People who are "country".. white and black, its a different mentality.. If someone does something or provokes a fight with someone.. The two go at it, whatever happens, after its over thats that.

I still don't think it was worth it, but to each their own.
And don't even come at me with roles reversed crap. I have always felt that it isn't worth engaging with a clearly deranged stranger, regardless of race. It still depends upon each individual situation (not race reversal.)
I understand there is only so much a person can take though. If ignoring and walking away is an option then I still prefer it. However, it it's truly not, then I totally understand retaliating.
