Yes! Is it like grape or like ginger? To this day I still don't know.

That's because there's no right answer

Basically, the entire tech world pronounced it with a hard g (grape). Then sometime later, the guy who invented the standard said that he always said it with a soft g (he phrased it as like JIF peanut butter) in his head.

So if you believe the creator has the right to name it, full stop, it's a soft g. If you believe that once the creation is out in the wild, the world gets to name it, it's a hard g.

ETA: I pronounce it with a hard g and will absolutely make fun of anyone who pronounces it with a soft g, creator's wishes be damned

For a long time, I said, "For all intensive purposes" instead of "For all intents and purposes"

I always stumble pronouncing the word "pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis."

I always just shorten it to pneumoconiosis. It's good enough.

Not me, but it’s a pet peeve of mine when people pronounce Frustrate as “fusstrate.”

A highly intelligent attorney of 27 years I have worked with for 20 of those years cannot say “substantive.”
