Michelin has given me the most even tread wear, better ride and longest tire life of any brand I’ve used

Same experience here. I had every brand under the sun at one point. I don’t think I’ll ever go with anything other than Michelin now.

I just divide the price by the miles the tire is supposed to last.

Whichever tire has the lowest cost per mile is what I go with.

Tires are tires within their class.

Have had good success with Yokohama's.

Also I think michelin does a rebate program in the first quarter of each year. Some tire shops will pass that along to the customer. I'd call around.

Michelin, BF Goodrich and Yokohama. A recent set of Yoko’s is the best tire I have utilized in the last decade and I buy a set every 1.5 years due to heavy driving

My daughters car needed tires. I went continental. If it’s my car, I might be inclined to go cheaper, but I went with the best on her car.

All I can tell you is, that my old man drives tour buses for big time music acts. They put Michelin's on the front of those million dollar custom busses.

I usually shop by price, but try to stay away from the extremely cheap. My company cars in the past have Michelin’s or similar in the past and I’ve turned in the vehicle with about 96,000 miles on one set of tires. I’m pretty easy on tires and I guess it’s a lot of highway driving.

I put Hankooks on each time for the last 15 years and loved them. Bought some Firestones for our RV and hate them with a passion. Sold the RV and bought a truck with Hankooks already on it with 10k miles and they are horrible; couldn’t get them to balance right and they were terrible if it was even just barely drizzling outside. Replaced them with Coopers and am very happy with them.

Edit: We didn’t plan to keep the RV long and put some Chinese bullshite tires on it. Within 6k miles three of them had slipped belts and had to be replaced with the Firestones mentioned above. That was a learning experience for sure.

I always put Continental tires on mine. Pure Contact is what I think are on there now.

Dealerships have a better tire program than tire shops I’ve found. The Ford dealership can get exactly what I want for the Volvo or BMW. Strange, but yup.

It's amazing how even tire prices are.

Have to buy 6 tires this week and after shopping online, Costco, dealerships, and my mechanic there was less than $20 difference in tire price.

Decided to go with my mechanic since I pay cash and save 8-10% normally.

I've noticed a considerable difference in installation prices though, and some will offer free road hazard, which is a good deal. The installation price should be shopped more than the tire price, imo. Also, I prefer small shops rather than Sam's Costco type places if you're going to use the free rotation. In and out in 15 minutes sure beats waiting 2 hours at Costco to get your tires rotated.

Toyo and Nitto both make great tires but for a car I'd prolly just get whatever is cheapest from one of the top rated brands.
