Same. Part of the year, at least. There are several where I wouldn't do winters.

If I could afford it I'd move back to California along the southern coast.

I go by each county more than each state on where I’d live. See the red for where the best places to live are…

Same here. Crappy weather is a deal breaker.

"never" is an absolute term, a lot of my "never" could be changed if the political landscape changed for the better

I’ve been thinking about this regarding the West and Rocky Mountain states. I’ve been to Washington, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Nevada. Would like to get to the rest of them. The rugged individualism and generally conservative politics of the western and Rocky Mountain states has always appealed to me. But you have to be careful.

Take Wyoming. I had always thought of it as a beautiful and desirable place to live. You know Jackson Hole, mountains and such.

However, it’s not exactly a paradise. I learned recently that Wyoming has or has had the highest rate of suicide in the US. It also has the highest average wind speed in the country, with a daily average of 21.5 mph. Apparently it never stops blowing. In winter it’s not uncommon to have 40-50 mph winds and have been recorded at hurricane speeds of 75-100 mph. Imagine that when it’s -20 to +20 F for 3-4 months. I’ve read it described as desolate, treeless, windswept, dry and barren in half the state. Sounds depressing. Primary industry is mining and O&G.

Of course it has beautiful places as well and I’m not saying it’s awful. I’ve never been, obviously. But just one example that it goes to show you have to do your homework on places you’d like to move to. If you’ve been and have a different view, let me know.

Tennessee and North Carolina are popular choices. I think part of that is based on who is moving there. There's a lot of blue state Midwest conservatives fed up with liberals. Many have moved to Nashville and Western NC. Unfortunately the liberals have already ruined California and are now invading Texas like Burmanese Pythons.

Anybody with any sense will not pick the terrible states. Including, sadly, Louisiana. It sucks by all measures.
