When facing the bed I am on the left. It's the closest to the bathroom.

Everybody sleeping close to the door like that’s gonna make much of a difference if someone gets all the way through the door before you’re out of bed
My pistol can reach the extra 4 feet

Closest to the door.
When I was a younger man.
Usually because I'd have a choice of door or window to hop out of in case her hubby came home. Always pays to scope out the house a little once your inside.
When I was at my own place, door again, because I have a dog and it was just easier to have her scramble over me then drunkenly stumble to let her out.
Nowadays it's just because it's easier when the kids wake up at night to wake me up.

The left, which is not closest to the door.
The door to the bathroom and to the rest of the house are in the same wall (the right).
There’s a relatively low chance if someone breaking in to our house and there’s a 100% chance my wife will get up in the middle of the night.
I sleep all night with no bathroom needs.
Happy wife.

Seems pointless.
In any case, I have a balcony door, a bathroom door, and a hallway door in my bedroom. I'd have to sleep sideways at the end of the bed to be closest to the door.
