Exactly. A lot of people simply don't think about these things and NEED to be told.
Generally I don't walk into a restaurant less than 30 minutes before the close as a general rule, but if they are open then they should be willing to fulfill their obligations. A smart manager should schedule their employees to a certain time after close.

The waitress in question had a chemistry final at LSU at 7:30AM the next morning. Once I apologized to the lady and explained to her that the first half of her party who came in before her arrived 4 minutes before closing and her waitress should be in bed by now for a big final, she felt like shite for being angry. She had her own granddaughter taking finals at LSU, it turned out.
I hear you, but come on. I worked during college and I am sure I worked many days before my finals and I sure as hell worked all through finals week. Part of being a college student. She is not some unique case. Same story, all over college campuses, all over the country.

The Dominos person took the wrong approach, but that is probably what they were trying to do.
Not their place, especially if the nurse technically did nothing wrong.

I think the pizza place should take orders until close but why the frick does this have to turn into a crusade? Everybody has to get offended nowadays. fricking bullshite.

no they are not. Dominos closes at 12. Pizza was ordered at 11:55. No reason to add the note.
Have you ever gone to a restaurant and been still eating/drinking after it was closed?

when the order was placed common knowledge would be that the nurse was requiring the business to remain open for more than a half hour extra.
see above...people go into restaurants all the time shortly before they close

just because they can doesn't make them less of a dickhead.

I mean the note wasn't even that rude, honestly. Thin-skinned people...

So what does "closed" mean to you?

No I was raised better and worked in the service industry in college and High School.

A lot of people leech on the teet of the American taxpayer as well. Must be ok then according to your mindset.

since I worked at a pizza place in high school it means we stop taking orders when we close. Anyone who thinks the employees are going to punch out and leave at midnight are naïve or never worked in a restaurant. You have all kinds of work to do before you actually punch out.
I guess some of you think all the employees show up at 10 am if that is when they open also right?

No one is going to court! It was a hypothetical statement that IF a court had to decide a judgement, the customer who called during posted OPEN hrs would be right 100% of the time.
But the insinuation that a caller must determine how long a delivery takes and call in to make sure the driver will be done delivering by the closing time stated is absolutely fricking ridiculous.
Although you think you may know better, I can promise buoy owners and managing partners have fully taken the time if delivery into consideration before setting their closing hours.
Yes, if Popeys closes at 9 and I order chicken at 850, they damn well better have it or fry me some, period. It's what they do.
Those places know down to the penny what it costs to acquire customers. Running off current customers is a disaster in terms if customer acquisition costs. ESPECIALLY, a hospital staff that probably orders several hundred pizzas per month.

say you were a waiter at a restaurant that closed at 10...you would rather no groups come in at 9 so that you wouldn't have to stay and close?
Why do you think schedules are listed as 5-close for employees? why not 5-10 if the business closes at 10?

I'm sure she's thrilled when someone flatlines 5 minutes before her shift is up.
Oh yeah.
And we ALWAYS make sure to write the patient a note saying "Please make sure to attempt to die more than 5 minutes before my shift ends. Thanks so much! -the nurse that just missed her daughter's recital to save/attempt to save your life"
Dumbfrick.

So then to you "closed" doesn't mean the opposite of "open for business", it means "the time we stop taking orders"? So it's perfectly acceptable to walk into a restaurant that closes at 10 at 9:55, order your steak and bottle of wine and proceed to drink it until 3 in the morning if you want?
Makes total sense
Makes total sense

Pretty ridiculous. I get that Dominos is open, but this Karen Miller person is way overboard. Also, if you're not a drunk college kid, you have no business eating pizza at midnight. I'm confident this nurse is a whale.

That wasn't even a rude note. it was actually well written and polite.

Do you have trouble in reading comprehension?! They made the order and delivered the order.

Which happened. So your statement was that requesting an order be placed earlier was an offense worthy of litigation.

Total non sequitur. The only comparison would 've to say the waiter didn't want to bring the prepared food to the table after 10.....which is stupid. Yes, everyone has been in a place after posted closing. They simply lock the door and stop taking customers. Then unlock it as paying customers leave.
