I’m not a ULL fan by any means but Lafayette is way better than Ruston. No one really cares about the football team but their baseball games and stadium are about as good as it gets outside of the SEC.

Literally going to fricking Monroe to escape Ruston.
It isn't quite so bad now. My son goes to Tech and is in a fraternity. He said it is rare that they go to Monroe because there are now a few decent bars in Ruston and simply nobody wants to make that drive even with a DD.

Yeah, just with the face that it's been brought up that Tech students drive to Monroe to check out the bar scene tells me all I need to know.
When I was in school in Lafayette, there were a good number of LSU students that would drive to Lafayette to party on the weekends. I remember JSP hosting some costume party for a bunch of LSU Greeks. Outside of a few times, I don't recall the opposite.

The question was...which school had the better “college experience”, not which town is best. I personally had a great time at Tech but it’s not for everyone. I preferred a smaller school with good Greek Life & opportunity to meet a ton of people. I‘m also more outdoorsy than most so i appreciated the great access to hunting/fishing & spent a ton of time at Lincoln Park, which has one of the best mountain biking trails in the South. The major sports: Football, basketball & baseball are good too. RSN itself has evolved quite a bit recently & has become a nice little college town....mostly because it revolves completely around Tech. In fact campus & downtown will eventually meet in the near future. They have a few good bars but I really like Utility Brewing DTN. There were quite a few students from Acadiana at Tech actually, prob cause they just wanted to get the hell outta Lafayette.
I’m in Lafayette multiple times a month...its a good cultured city, w/ decent food (horrific traffic though) but it’s just not a true college town. I can understand the appeal of ULL if students want an LSU-like experience & stay close to home, but def more of a commuter school. Nothing wrong with that...

If you like festivals and live music, ULL.

I had a great time at UL my one year there. Perhaps too much fun

That shite has been going on for years, probably decades.
If I was picking a college to attend based on the bar scene, Tech wouldn't even be on my radar.
