People keep citing the crocodiles in the Nile - the Amazon has fricking black caimans as well.
I'd be a lot more afraid of nile crocs than caimans. Caimans hunt small animals. Those crocs take down wildebeests and zebras

bacteria and other shite in the jungle will kill you quicker than any animal

I'm confident a hippo or crocodile will kill me faster than bacteria in those rivers would.

rafted a portion of the Nile River several years ago. That was a humbling experience, to say the least.

This might deserve its own thread on the OB.

Even with the Nile crocs, I'm going to have to go with the Amazon.

Got some cool pictures and some video. I might share one day. We rafted out of a camp in Jinja, Uganda near the headwaters. Camped out on the river and all - with monkeys inhabiting the trees like the squirrels do here. It was a bad arse experience. Never seen that kind of volume/speed in a river.

Amazon has scarier critters. Nile has scarier people.

Top of my fear list:

1. Hippos - Nile - Fear Level: 100
2. Crocodiles - Nile - Fear Level: 98
3. Huge or poisonous snakes - Amazon - Fear Level: 90

Nile is more scary.

Not a problem for the long stretch south of Egypt.

The Amazon may be kinda scary, while the Nile river is deadly.

Pablo Escobar's pet hippos escaped his zoo years ago. They have taken up residence in the Amazon and are bumpin uglies
