The thing about the hood is this, mind your business, watch your back, and don't be stupid.

Black guy here, although I didn't grow up in the hood, I spent plenty of time in the hood because thats where many of my family stayed. Also after college me and a group of friends all lived in a house together in the hood for a lil over a year.

It's not terribly hard. The daytime is is completely fine. Mind your business, and it's a breeze. At the night time, is a totally different animal. You are a dumbass if you decide to go for a walk in the hood at night, straight up. If you out and about at night, mind your business, don't try to mean mug anybody,and generally be courteous of folks, nod your head and say what's up if yoi happen to make eye contact with somebody.

That being said, Im never living in the hood ever again, simply because while it wasn't all that bad, I can't live somewhere knowing I can't leave the house after 10 pm. I enjoy freedom too much.

I don't do those hicktown backwood trailer park areas at all. This just might be an ignorant thought, bu when I see areas like this with confederate flags flyint everywhere. I am trying to get out of there asap. Maybe the people there are not racist and actually great people but I'm not staying long enough to find out.

It’s really kind of sad. I see working class people, old people, just existing among the blight and degradation. Toddlers roaming around in bursting diapers. Trash strewn everywhere. No upkeep or maintenance done to the houses, just consigned to rot and decay and few seem to give much of a shite. But every so often you see those that care, and the exasperation in their eyes that so few others seem to.

There’s a little store off Bawell, on Balis. Owens. Damn good food, nice old couple. But most of the rest of the community is given over to rot and decay and depravity. And these kids grow up in it and the cancer seeps into them.

Just comfortable enough to make it not worth the sacrifice. Gaming the system, enough creature comforts designed to punish those who try to do better for themselves.

As I was reading this I thought you were referring to rural poverty areas. Don’t kid yourself thinking it isn’t exactly the same.
Maybe the big difference is that I have never heard of rural white trash gangs.

I feel much safer in the backwoods meth lab area vs the hood. Maybe because I grew up in Opelousas

In the hood, they shoot and then flee leaving the evidence bleeding out in the parking lot.
