Which is better? Gas or electric golf carts

Hoping to buy one for camping and to ride around town since we're allowed in my little town. How long do batteries last? How much is maintenance on both gas and electric?

If you're playing golf, electric

If it’s for camping, make sure you check with the places you intend on camping at. Some do not allow gas golf carts. I’ve had both, and prefer electric. Bought the one I have now brand new, and the batteries are around 5 years old and still kickin.

Gas ones always seem to have issues due to all the starting and stopping
ETA: I only can vouch for the crappy Muni golf course carts.

What's the speed difference between gas and electric

If you need a four wheeler, consider gas power.

I highly recommend checking out Bayou Buggies in Mississippi. They carry the club car line (electric).

Speed is about the same. Electric has more torque so more giddy up. For golf/neighborhood electric. If going down camp roads or something, gas all the way.

Batteries. Less up keep.

The life on the batteries has gotten pretty damn good. The electrics are pretty easy to diagnose problems and are very quiet.
If you have more need for power gas is better. Once you really get into working on it, those little gas engines really are pretty simple to work on.

I found most of the cheaper golf courses in Houston had gas carts so i imagine they were more efficient.

Electric. It’s batteries and wires. You can drown it and be up again for $700 the next day.

You can drown a gas engine and be up and running in 1/2 hour for $5 oil and gas

Is that how much batteries cost? About how many years do they last?

then you better go electric. most camp grounds don't allow gas. if they would, then they would have to allow four wheelers too.
