If any of the camping areas are extremely hilly you might want to consider gas. Otherwise, electric is the way to go.

OP, check the gear ratio on a electric cart. Aftermarket kits can get them hauling arse. That cost around $700 for a shaft and gears.

Was given one. It's old and the grandson loves it. Also when I drive it, my two dogs love it.

Batteries will last 5+ years if you take care of them. Got to add water to them now and then when charging.

Go Club Car electric. Club Car is the only company that uses all aluminum frames(no rust).

Also get the Pro Fill kit for easy multi battery top off. Makes it a breeze.

Another thing, 36V or 48V. Really don't know if there is a big difference in mileage. New to owning one.

Wish I knew you were looking earlier. My Mom bought a brand new Club Car Precedent 48v from the place on Millerville road in 2017 for $8000. She sold it a few months ago for $2700. She DGAF.

I want one that has a lift and bigger tires. Will a electric do fine?

of course. The 48v has more power and torque than gas buggies.

I second the Pro Fill or similar single point of entry for filling the batteries to the optimum level. I got 6 1/2 years out of my last set of batteries and that was with pretty heavy use just about every weekend.

If you use the cart to go 50 ft, you should still charge it when you’re done even though you think you barely used it. Also, once you plug it in to the charger, let if charge fully before taking it off. Both of these things will extend the life of the batteries from what I’ve been told.

Price battery

multiply that price by 6-8 batteries. determine if that's worth it or not.

I'd look into a UTV for what you're describing.

Gas or electric don't matter. Only thing that does is how big a lift you're going to get.

Upkeep costs favor electric, but the pricing is different. Gas and oil will cost more than electricity, but it is spaced out over time as you use it. Replacement of the batteries is a lump sum cost.

My main issue with our electric cart is that often someone will forget to plug it up. Kids run the gas low, only a few minutes to get the gas can. With electric, your cartless for a while.
