I am with here to serve. We are a 501 (c)(3) charity.
Any money donated goes directly to feeding people.

Stout, can you please provide facts to back up this statement?
I don’t know about that but here in Jasper Fl we have had people saying all the red cross is handing out is MRE’s.
We do hot meals. And when we run out we our “overflow” (over 600 meals) is hotdogs and chips.
On dinner tonight was pecan smoked chicken, black beans and cilantro lime rice. After we served 600 when handed out hot dogs. Hot dogs are a fast meal to make and we don’t want anyone leaving hungry. We gave out everything we had.
My dinner was a Pop tart. We served over 800 meals today.

For years the Red Cross has stated that 91% of what they raise is "invested" in helping people. What they leave out is that not all of that 91% actually goes to helping people. Several organizations have done the research and found 70% or less actually makes it to directly helping people. They lose around 26% per year in fundraising expenses alone.
We certainly are NOT like that. Every penny that is donated goes to food fuel to get to a location or supplies to use for a week
None of our guys make a single penny. We take time off our jobs to do this. I love working with these guys.
We are a 501 (c) (3) charity.

You guys rock and as usual people like your group know how to take care of people.
During the 2016 floods around Baton Rouge, the locals had set up to cook and serve food at some of the shelters. Red Cross showed up and made them throw the food away and only were allowing their own stuff to be served.

Does a majority of the money actually make it to the people?
I think they are as legit as any. In the 90% range of money to 'victim'. Franklin Graham has caught some hell because he speaks from the Bible in regards to homos and such. If that offends, don't give. (Sorry Paul Allen and S.)
I think they do well..

I heard a few rumors, but could never sort out which was which.
I do know that I saw the Salvation Army doing amazing things following Katrina when every other bureaucracy was just useless.
Been a fan of theirs ever since.
Samaritan's Purse looks very strong and would likely be one worthy to assist.

Friend has a condo in Kings Mountain. He is headed there this weekend for a couple of weeks to help the clean up efforts. Will ask which organizations have been the most effective and will re-post here.
I have heard that it is desperate in some areas. People out of insulin and other medical necessities, taking over ambulances as an example. It is really bad. We now live on the coast. Starlink and a propane, whole house generator is something we will purchase ahead of next storm season.

I can see both sides of that. It sucks that people were trying to help others and got shut down.
But if people who aren’t used to serving a lot of people don’t pay attention to temperatures they could make a lot of people sick. People who are already dealing with the impacts of the storm and now they have food poisoning.
When we got started that is how it was. Our first trip was to Lillian Al several years ago. Then after it was so successful and we used connections at several churches we got them to donate some equipment and now we have a mobile kitchen that can really push out some food.
We have all the servsafe certificates. We have our local heath inspector check out our setups and make recommendations on how to be clean and safe.

I think Cajun Navy 2016 is legit. I have a friend in a hurricane affected area right now handing out food and supplies. They loaded up a bunch of trucks in Shreveport and drove it all over there. He also aids Sheriff Departments in body recovery in drowning cases.

There is an organization called Mountain Mule Packers using mules to get supplies to areas where they cannot drive in. Delivering necessities like insulin, food and water.

How does this happen? How do people not tell the red cross at that point to GFY?
