I prefer smaller towns...in or near the mountains.
Colorado Springs or Summit County CO (near all the ski resorts, the outdoors is a lifestyle there).
Asheville, NC or Charlottesville, VA. You'd be hard-pressed to find better public schools than those in VA.
Or the foothills of the Sierra's near Sacramento (like Auburn).

If you're smart you'd stay in Texas. Fastest growing economy in the US even though it is already on top. The housing market is booming in the major cities. Once we secede we can tell the government to go F themselves, bunch of commie bastards. Texas is king, anyone who disagrees is a dumb hippie loser.
