If I had to live in Houston, I would literally opt for death before moving to Katy. It makes me nauseous.

In these 10 years how many times have you pulled up to the wrong house because it looks identical to yours?

Sorry, it's really a terrible place, but you love you 0.23 acres and 4,200 square foot house.

Never. End of cul-de-sac. Probably 0.6-0.7 acre lot. 2600SF house. Pool and hot tub. Got to be patient and know where to look Baw.

If Katy is not your cup of tea and you've stared at rice fields your whole life (this is a Louisiana based web site). Fine.

I've heard from friends that the neighborhood is kind of declining. True?
not sure about declining, but every couple of weeks or so, i see a for sale sign on a few houses in briarmeadow.

that's probably normal for any neighborhood though.

I like briarmeadow bc it's so close to everything (even the ratchetness of hillcroft) and still tucked away. Lots of 'suburbia' types live there (young white families with children), but the houses they live in are probably beneficits of the ones that came before them. It's crazy though, housing in this hood gets anywhere from $180-$230+/sqft.

the houses aren't new and some show their age, but alot have gone through reclamation projects that really make them look updated.

I hear the area around Hobby Airport is nice this time of the year. You can now drive just a couple blocks over and catch a direct flight to Cancun.

Yet you can get such a larger lot inside the loop.

I have been in Katy for 20+ years and love it. Anyone from Louisiana who has visited has nothing but compliments about the area.

Everyone is different and has their preference of where to live. If you have a family then it is hard to make a legitimate argument that Katy is a bad or terrible place to bring up your children.

I have two kids that benefited from a better life because I chose to leave New Orleans and raise my kids in Katy.

It is not the best place for a single person nor is it a great place for a younger married couple without children. In Houston and the surrounding area it really depends on where you work and what you are willing to compromise between home and work life.

Your comments are way off base and anyone looking for an opinion on the Houston area should ignore your idiotic opinion.

I hate golf.

ETA: I have a home in Sienna Plantation, but am never there. It'll be going on the market soon actually. The area has really gone down hill.

Well that might be TigerFred's experience. I just run on our neighborhood golf course since I don't play golf.

Then we get together with the neighbors and cook and drink in the streets all night on the weekends.

When the wife and I want to go into the city on the weekends, we do. Or she meets me for lunch during the week. But when we want to be outside of everything, we kick back in our little unincorporated burb hood.

What are you talking out of your arse about now?

My days are not the same. I do golf frequently. I like be golf. I am a member of a Country Club because I enjoy it so much. I haven't had a chance to golf since June and won't be able to do it again until January. It is depressing not to be able to play.

Many of our friends in Katy are from Louisiana and chose to do the same as us which was to move for a better opportunity and a better life.

With every post on this subject you make yourself look like a bigger dumbass.

If you chose an area in Katy instead of Sienna Plantation perhaps you would be less of a miserable person and would want to spend time at home.

What's wrong with Sienna?

I've played it with Ryno. It's a nice course.

I never said anything about a mansion. As a matter of fact, the largest home I've ever lived in was 2,700 sq ft, and it was actually too big. I just think cookie cutter suburban homes are atrocious.

I am too old for base jumping.

Nevermind. Just read some more of the thread.

I liked sienna. Nice houses in there too. I could party there professionally.
