I just checked into my West Houston hotel and drove right past the TopGolf here. It's tall, but not as much land as you would think. Would fit fine in the size of a standard driving range.
The fact that all of Baton Rouge's courses have closed, is the exact reason it could work here. We could all rally around the TopGolf instead of going to Zachary and Plaquimine to play. Still, THEY will probably just end up putting one in Metairie.
Edit: seems to work best in high visiblity locations off the interstate. Maybe Seigan by that old Tinsletown.

the fact that they all closed is bad. that means there aren't enough players to sustain. On a weekend how many of those golfers are more likely to go play 18, or go play at top golf?

That's what I'm saying man, cut it back to 2 stories and just keep the most popular games. It would still kill and be much more accomadable to the local population and way less costs/overhead.

I like your enthusiasm and desire to follow your dreams. Just my 2 cents, I work in sports turf so I know a little about the golf industry but it doesn't take a genius to figure golf is dying. BR has closed several courses the last couple years. It's all about disposable income and BR, while growing, is far behind the wealth of the cities Top Golf has already been established in. Just my opinion, but I hope you go for it if it's what you really wanna do

It brings a much higher entertainment value dynamic than playing 18 at Sherrwood forest country club. And I will

basically number of users per capita was factored in based on population, the number of courses and their take from public play, and basic land/impact costs/implementation/staffing/maintaining.
All in all it was no where near a slam dunk with the cost calculations of all that. I mean think about how many golfers there is in Houston (All of houston) and there are two top golf locations. We have maybe 1/100th the number of golfers per capita. It would struggle to just break even. A scaled down version wouldn't be allowed by Top Golf and implementing that technology without their know how would cost triple most likely.

i know there seems to be many on this board would play it. but think about when you aren't playing it. Are there that many people that will pack that place?
You guys make up the extreme minority of users. Its not about attracting golfers at that point, its about attracting people to have a good time and play/eat/drink. Very few people are that into golf that would use that for such an outing. You're drastically over estimating the number of users based on " i know a lot of guys that play golf". those people would have to use it once a week or maybe twice a week every week for them to be successful. If driving ranges were successful, there would be a lot more of them.

Well perhaps something open door and similar to their business model instead of franchising? I understand that's a lot more risk but if they wouldn't be open to it anyway then it wouldn't matter. Something closer to the 1 mill range. And see I believe the kind of environment this establishment would present would appeal to non-golfers. So that throws out the golfers per capita hogwash. Just A place to just come have fun and bring the tinder date/GF/wife or chronies despite never having golfed before.
