Working at TCBY on Highland Rd
Between first and second date with my future (and still) wife (or was this the second date??) her and I hit up that TCBY on a random June 1988 afternoon.
I bet you remember me. Panama Jack long sleeve T-shirt, Panama Jack swim suit, Panama Jack (negative SPF 15) medallion tanning oil, and tre-torns. I smelled fabulous. She had on a white Vaurnet t-shirt and hair framing her face similar to a full grown male lion. We parked next to two Chi-O chicks in a convertible 325 BMW who couldn't decide if they wanted waffle cones or cups.

II was racing BMX bikes at the NBA war of the stars series in Indiana or maybe Rockville or maybe Peachtree tree city. It was hot and I am positive I won every heat and the main!

We talked about that too but didn’t do it. One of my biggest regrets and I have several.

I was 7. On an average evening in July, my mom would be cutting potatoes to make fries with. I would be showering off after a day running around barefoot, climbing trees, picking blackberries, helping my pawpaw with whatever chores he wanted my "help" with, swimming and fishing in our pond.
If we had gone fishing, my Dad and brother would be cleaning the fish. My parents made homemade orange sherbet with pineapples on hot days like this. They'd give us chunks of the rock salt if we asked. The radio was always on in the background.
On a weekend, Dad would have rented some movies on the way home, which we'd watch on our wooden floor set TV. I feel very lucky to have had an 80's childhood.

I was in 9th grade and crazy about going to record stores. I would not stop listening to George Michael.

I was 29, working for a paper selling advertising. Lived in the Treetops !! condos in Dallas. I was working out at Presidents Health Club at Skillman and Abrams. Went to happy hours and ate free dinner at different bars two or three nights a week.
Wasn't working Mavs games then, so I had season tickets. Watched them go from losing the 1986-1987 Western Conference Finals vs. the Showtime Lakers in seven games, to missing the playoffs and only winning 38 games in 1987-1988. Watched Roy Tarpley go from Sixth Man of the year to only playing 12 games because of his coke habit. Gino Petralli was the Rangers top hitter with a 282 batting average, and went 70-91.
Watched an injured Kirk Gibson come off the bench, hit that home run,and do that engine revving thing, to win a World Series game for the Dodgers, vs. the Athletics. We'd never heard the term. "Walk off" before to call it that.
Voted for W's daddy George HW Bush over Michael Dukakis. Voted at Schofield Bible Church on Abrams in Dallas.
I saw Die Hard, A Fish Called Wanda, Coming to America, Twins, Big, Midnight Run, The Bourne Identity, Rainman, Bull Durham, Frantic, Married to the Mob, Tequila Sunrise, Young Guns,Beetlejuice, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, D.O.A., Colors, The Great Outdoors, Red Heat, Everybody's All-American, Heartbreak Hotel, and Caddyshack II in the theater.

Playing an NES. I think Super Mario 2 came out that year. I know because I was in 4th grade and a friend brought the instruction book to class.

Just left for Europe for 3 weeks in HS. Got grouped with a bunch of Mormons. Lost my virginity in Switzerland and used all their drink tickets at a bar in Rome. Wanted Belinda Carlisle so bad.
