At night our family would eat at the dinner table and afterwards I’d take a swig or two of every beer my dad would send me to fetch for him.
My dad used to sit out on the trunk of his Monte Carlo and sip on tall boy Old Milwaukees every evening. I was the beer fetcher too

Now 1986, I can remember Hurricane Juan and having to get to the house in a boat since South Lafourche flooded for that storm.

Our other favorite past time was setting up ambushes to slaughter Soviet troops with our green plastic M-16s
Seems like every kid in the 80's had a full arsenal of realistic looking toy guns to kill Soviets back in the day.

Thanks for shitting on a 5-yr old's adventure. What's next, you're gonna tell me the funnel cakes I scarfed down were fake too?

The World's Fair.
Everyone in Nola in 1984. I still have my season pass.
If I wasn’t at the Fair, I was playing Galaga or Centipede video games at Blimpie’s on So. Carrollton Ave. across from my school.

11 years old and always remember 1985 as being a better year than 1984.

I was in 4th grade. Would go to this 16 year old girl's house with my brother, another guy and myself. She would "look after us" during the summer. We would ride in the back of her little Chevette hatchback and cruise around. She dipped Skoal and would send us to buy it for her because she didn't want certain people in town see her dip. That Chevette's passenger side floorboard was rusted out, so she'd have us throw any trash out of it as we were driving around.
They had a pool and MTV. Back then, that and baseball was all a 9 year old needed.

I wasn’t born yet (88) but for those of you who were around in 1984, where were you?
I was 14 and still living in north Alabama.

What was your life like?
Chaos. Up to this point I’d been raised by my material grandmother. But by this time she was very sick and her health was failing. She stayed in the hospital most of that year. My bother (he was 16) and I were left to our own devices. We had a housekeeper who came every few days to bring us groceries and clean the house. But, as you’d expect with teenagers with no adult supervision, we’d gone off the reservation. Parties, booze, drugs, girls… a teenage boys dream.

I was starting my final year of Law School with dreams of the LA (not Louisiana) Law lifestyle. Alas ...

Freshman in HS and spending a few weeks in the summer at North Mrytle Beach with my family. We would always go with my best friends family and he and I would walk down the beach at night to the Pavillion (arcade and a pier)and take our fresh cut mullets, skinny strap tank tops, sun britches, and boom box with Def Leppard cassette. Trying to be cool to talk to some 14-15 year old girls. It only worked once. Met a girl from Ohio named Gretchen. It was an amazing evening of talking. Imagine Danny Larusso in the original Karate Kid. Kind of like that. No moves by me as I was a shy and nice kid. But at the time I thought I was Rico Suave.

I was a freshman in Law School in Nola during the world's fair year. They cleaned the city up nicely for that year.

Freshman/Sophomore at LSU. Spent the summer riding a truck around NOLA delivering appliances. Hit the worlds fair whenever I could. Fell in love with the eventual mother of my children. Watched LSU have an excellent season in football and earn a Sugar Bowl bid. It was a great year except for my grades.

In Junior High doing lots of bad stuff. Went to LA while they were hosting the Olympics. Probably hanging out at Skate City (or was it Roller City) and some short lived movie place in Denham Springs whose name I can’t remember.
