Look at Santa Maria or Casa Colina

Santa Maria to St Francisville would make me want to open a vein

Prairieville or somewhere in Ascension. Literally the best place in the state to live as long as you don’t go to Donaldsonville, which is separated by the river

What do you want to do with your time? Spend time commuting to STF? Have your wife and kids closer to activities in the city or do more country activities? Does your family spend money on a lot of activities? Consider the variables of city vs rural living? $150k in baton rouge with 3 kids in private school won't allow you a large housing budget if you provide the only income and will not put you in a desirable neighborhood.

Why live in a neighborhood? You could be King of El Cid.

You just take the Plaquimine ferry and drive up to the Audubon bridge.

OP, what school are they in?

If Mercy, St. James, Sacred Heart, etc. I’d look in Tara or Goodwood east of Lobdell. More bang for your buck vs. Old Goodwood/Glenmore Place.

And commute to River Bend......are you insane?

Also, having lived in Ascension since 2006, it is NOT the best place in Louisiana to live. It is becoming mired in traffic, McMansions, and city slickers that think they are buying in the "country".

I'm just astounded that someone with the choice to live or not live in BR wants to live in BR [instead of Zachary/Central/St Francisville].

Plus 3 kids in private school, won't be able to make ends meet at all.

I'd personally stick in St. Francisville

1. Old Goodwood/Garden District /Westdale Heights- $200+ SF (Not much available below $5-600,000) find a lot and build will profit down the road
2. Tara/Midcity-$112-170 SF (still MIGHT find a bargain to reno/update)
3.Broadmoor-$85-115 SF (build or renovate potential) LINK
4. There are other little pockets of neighborhoods off Old. Hammond Hwy

All have easy access North. Jump on Florida take a right on N. 22nd and hit i110.

This is actually a great idea. With his budget, he could put his kids in Pointe Coupee Catholic, have an easy commute under 20 minutes, and have a house on the water with a boat launch.
