Grew up watching him as a lad but my daddy and family really were into his shows. Seems like he is an underrated legend, as you don't hear much about him nowadays. Dude could tell a story while cooking.

Pretty decent driver but too tall for F1, better in Champ and Indy before he died, also he could weave a pretty decent Cajun story when he wasn't pitching poorly due to his lack of offspeed junk.

He died in 2001. Buried in Port Vincent. He would wipe his nose with the same towel he used to wipe off his spoon.

Being dead since around 2000 will do that.

My dad knew him personally so I got to meet him too a few times. He obviously knew how to tell a story but the accent was completely fake and his recipes weren't all that either. But he got a following and made a living from it, which deserves respect in my book.

WTF, he was born in Roseland, while it ain't Acadiana it ain't the great white north either.. He was, however, a "safety man" so all the plant baws probably hated him.
