The benefits of marijuana are well documented. But it is psychologically addictive(as is video games and almost anything else). What are the OT’s thoughts? Should it be legal?
I see very few good arguments for making marijuana illegal while alcohol is legal.
Except that alcohol has better lobbyist.

But saying it’s not a gateway drug is equally dishonest.

cause nobody in Texas has parents who drank or smoked? No ash trays to raid or stealing from the fridge
No because smoking weed in Hispanic cultures is accepted. Cigarettes were expensive. Alcohol was for adults. The kids I knew respected that.
I moved to NOLA (in the city) in 1992 - the amount of drugs (and price) was vastly different
I did not once put cocaine and marijuana on the same level - I said that’s what the kids were DEALING in middle school in south Texas. I never said they were the same. The two kids I know who became serious drug addicts when we were in middle school started smoking weed in 6th grade and were in rehab for cocaine use by 8th grade.
I have also said to legalize the stuff and let’s see where this country goes.

I was in South America a few years back, it was so acceptable to partake in cocaine. I lit up a joint and got looked at by locals like I was a POS

Yep, I am 57 and we paid for our child’s college. So, we set him on to his career without loans.
He will be employed by big 4 accounting firm.
At this point if I want to have a couple of tokes and listen to Harry Chapin, then so be it.

Like every drug or alcohol drink people will abuse it but as many people use it now and as much as it costs the government to try and control I say legalize it. The first thing I am going to do when I retire is take a hit.

I'm probably in the minority on this but I think all drugs should be legalized.
All drugs should be decriminalized for possession
You obviously shouldn't be able to produce meth, but you shouldn't face any criminal penalties for possession without intent to distribute

But it’s the same with weed - if weed is tried first then it can lead to other things. Hence a gateway

That’s exactly how supersaint’s life has progressed. Y’all should exchange emails

9/10 people drink before they try weed

It's only considered a gateway because it's illegal. Why isn't alcohol considered a gateway substance? Because it's legal and culturally accepted, so you can do it without fear.
You smoke weed and realize what society told you not to do isn't really harmful - making you more likely to try other illegal substances that are actually harmful to you.

Nope, I see his choice has him buying over priced coffee in the morning. Not going down that road!
