In my case, it probably gets paired up with a kid sock and put in their room.

Over time, I throw the one sock away.

The very next day, I find the missing sock. But since I threw out the other sock, I just end up throwing that one out also.

Next time you attempt to fix your washer you’ll figure it out

I keep my socks paired when dirty in the hamper at all times. As soon as they get separated, that sock gnome is coming

If you have a GE washer they are all under the motor. Every one eats socks.

Most dryers will pull a sock in between the drum.. especially once the roller bearings start to give.
Samsung is bad for this.

I probably have 300 damn pair of socks and cant find a damn match half the time.

300 pair of socks = 600 socks
1/2 unmatched = 300 socks

You should not be worried about not being able to match the socks but more concerned as to why you have so many socks. An intervention might be in order.

The show up on my pile of mystery socks. My wife (no pics) swears they don’t belong to a lover because he is argyle only.

You’re going to have to get a surveillance camera.

You’ll be shocked at what you do with those socks while sleep-walking.

My wife's undies used to go missing after a particular friend of our son would spend the night.

Gap between the drum and the machine.

This is the answer to the mystery.

The solution to the problem is to wash smaller loads.

I have a teenage son and everyone's missing socks materialized when the wife moved his bed to repaint the bedroom.

Yeah, that boy ain't right.

It sounds odd but the prevalence of socks and their inevitable disappearance shows a nexus to a spiritual world.
So, somewhere there are other-dimensional beings with a limitless supply of earth socks.

Guess I didn't have that assocation for the bags. When you live with 3 women they take your socks, especially during Han Solo season
