After I read the OP, my first thought was ....there's no way this fricker has kids. There's no way.
Confirmed.
So with no experience, you just assume parents hate their kids if they're "mean to them."
The OT never changes.

Bingo.

Kids are like amplifiers, if your life sucked before them, they will make it suck worse. If your life was good before them, they will make it better. If you fell somewhere in the middle, they will amplify your ups and downs.
I fall in the latter category, for what it's worth.

I never threw tantrums in stores because I knew I was getting beat when we got home if I did. I also used to sympathize for the kids. Now. I'm not so sure they don't deserve their bad parents.
Wow you really are a miserable human being. Kids are a product of their environment. If their parents are assholes then guess what, the kids will be assholes too.
My dad really really treated my family like shite. He made it a point to let us know we were a burden to him. And yes we got beat a lot as kids. The beatings didn't teach me to be a better person, it just taught me to stay away from my dad as much as possible.
Now that I'm adult I'm taking the exact opposite approach to my kids. I treat them with respect, love and kindness. If they mess up, I try to make them understand why they did something wrong, as opposed to just being scared of a beat down. And guess what....it works. My kids aren't brats. They are kids who love life and their parents.

Shitty parents raise shitty kids.
Can't change them so I try my best to stay away from places where that kind of parent/kid would frequent.

You don't beat, got to get a crazy look in your eye like you might beat him.
But YOU DO take them the frick out of said store or restaurant. And they don't get shite. I've taken my son out of a couple places. His fate sealed. He is forced to sit with me in my room and watch the golf channel or ESPN. No toys or iPad.

The opposite is true too where they let little hellions wail and throw tantrums on the floor & throw items off the shelf, & the mom acts like miss Cartman.... "sweetie".....
One time not so casually plopped "Spanx" in one of those mom's baskets not breaking stride with a cough for emphasis and steady eye contact.
As in, get your kid in line or it's about to be "it takes a village".
And I love kids, but some are little monsters
