I'm not sure I've ever heard a woman say that looks don't matter without qualification. In fact I just asked a very attractive woman I work with about this not long ago and she admitted that some kind of physical presentation always plays a factor.
Guys just have a hard time understanding what women find attractive in men. It's not really about being "pretty". It has more to do with character, confidence, having an engaging personality, appearing to be healthy, etc. There's nothing right on the surface to latch onto for male attractiveness like big tits with women. Women don't all like the same things, but they do all seem to like a man who projects character well.
And I would advise that doing things like making pissy, butthurt tirades about female "charades" would be a prime indicator of a dearth of character. (AKA pussy repellant)
