Wanted the fellow meteorologists of the OT to educate me... Aren't we eventually supposed to see a shift and get a bunch of rain and colder weather if there's a strong El Nino this year? When is this shift supposed to happen?

The local forecast always goes only about a week out and lately is "more dry weather on the way" and "no real rain to bust the drought" without ever answering the question - when will we get consistent rain again? I realize we've had high pressure sitting on us all summer but I miss going to sleep with those summer thunderstorms more than I thought I would.

I'll hang up and listen. Thanks in advance.

Usually around the start of Fall. It'll really take hold when Winter rolls around.

If anyone on this site knew, they’d be too smart to be a part of this hedonistic fraternity…

Son of a bitch... How could I mention El Nino with no mention of The Nino?

Thank you for your service.

Interesting note:
Baton Rouge is 1.14" above Normal for rainfall month-to-date.

I caught myself doing it at work the other day during a safety briefing talking about the high temps due to El Niño.

Depends where you live. In western Oklahoma we got rain yesterday and high temps in the 60s and 70s the rest of the week.

I guess I should have specified... I'm in BR. I know it seems like almost every area around us (minus SWLA and SETX) are getting decent rain. I'm tired of watering the yard.

Perfect. Just in time for my grass to be completely dead so it can become a swampy mud flat.

It's already starting.

You'll really notice it come Mid-late fall.
