My mom recently tested positive right before a hip surgery and so it was moved. But, they will proceed if she tests positive again. I feel like they are still winging it.

You have to do this if a patient is in isolation for anything, not just covid. It could be c diff, infected wounds etc. It’s not just a covid thing.

Sorry about your dad.
I worked in a hospital for 4 years. These are precautions to create barriers that help prevent the spread of germs in the hospital. They are needed to protect you and the patient you are visiting.
Yeah, it sucks. But, obviously, if you're in the hospital you're generally going to be very sick or are immunocompromised (have a weakened immune system). People with weak immune systems may not be able to fight COVID-19, or other transmissible diseases, as well as others.

What hospital he’s in? Went to one few weeks ago. We didn’t have to do any of that crap

I was in ER in January, nary a test. Wife was in ER at the same time, tested before trauma surgery. This was in January. Nary a question about the jab for each of us.
OR's test for HIV before surgery.

They'll never admit they were wrong.
I think this is the biggest part of it. COVID became so political that to admit it’s no longer a big deal is like admitting that they’re the “bad guys.” They can’t do it because their entire world view became intertwined with standing with Ukraine, or staying home and saving lives, or being an ally. Most of it is fake posturing and everyone knows it, but everyone repeats the lie out of fear of ostracism. It’s very Soviet.
It’s the exact same with abortion. I was having a reasonable, chill conversation with a buddy from Louisiana who now lives in Portland about the recent decision. I said I don’t know exactly where the line is, but surely there’s a time in the development of a fetus when we shouldn’t be aborting babies. He told me that was just my Christian bias skewing my view of right and wrong. It’s no ability to bend from the modern party line.
We’re a weird internal Cold War. The scary part is that, like in the Cold War, reaching out with an olive branch to the people in charge only seems to embolden them. They don’t care to be friends. They think the majority view is evil. How do you mend the fence when you reach out your hand and the other side spits on it?

Not that I know of. I go years without being sick. Think last time I took me a sick day from work was over a decade ago.

It’s because your dad is an “airborne isolation” patient. They do this with other infections as well and always have. It’s not strictly a COVID thing.

I’ve worked OR for over 20 years. Never seen a pt tested for HIV

This smells like bullshite.
I work in one of the largest hospitals in the greater New Orleans area and people only have to wear masks in patient areas.
What hospital is this?

I had no idea the hospitals were still like that. That’s sad and comical

Is this going to continue in hospitals forever? Most of the world is back to normal but some of these restrictions are absolutely loony tunes.
Yes, proper PPE will always be a thing for any affliction you’re trying to avoid spreading. Gowns and masks weren’t invented in 2020.

I can honestly say I haven't even been remotely sick since long before COVID became a thing.
Just the occasional sinus blockage that doesn't last long, no fevers, aches, flu-like symptoms, etc.
I do suffer from bouts with kidney stones, but that is unrelated.

I’ve only had it once that I know of. That was a year and a half ago. But I know several folks who have never had it. I find that remarkable. But on the Diamond Princess there were many who never got it, so I guess there are some with body chemistry that fends it off.

I got it two weeks ago, and had a abscess tooth at the same time. Didn't notice the Covid, but tested positive. No real symptoms that I could tell
I have Leukemia, you'd think without an immune system it would hit harder. That shite is weak.

Is this the part where you try to argue gowns, masks, and gloves while visiting someone hospitalized with the flu was the norm prior to covid? Please say it is.

The false sense of security you people have is actually entertaining at this point.
