Mayflower Van
Mark Loupe, from right here in BR, used to build some of the baddest custom vans/vehicles in the nation back in the 70’s and 80’s. Incredible attention to detail.

'Cause like a princess she was laying there
Moonlight dancing off her hair
She woke up and took me by the hand
She's gonna love me in my Chevy van and that's all right with me

I remember seeing this van at the World of Wheels as a kid.
If I remember right, the owner was from Baton Rouge. I think the in interior was done by a guy from Baton Rouge. Not sure about the paint job.

All through high school, I worked in a Van conversion shop. We took stock box vans and turned them into great rides...
I actually took my driving test in a full size Chevy van with captains chairs. No lie

My childhood was spent riding in an 89 GMC Safari to my baseball games. GOAT Van.

Everyone knows why vans were popular in the 70's.
Because they were shagadyllic.

I just did a build and price on a Chevy express van. Almost 10k lbs GVWR, seating for 11, 6.6L engine, locking rear end. I'd say they're still pretty badass. Much cheaper than a suburban also.

Also built by Mark Loupe and painted by Henry Gerson of Daytona. Back in those days, if you had a van with a Gerson mural on it, you were the shite.

my parents had a Ford Econoline van when we were kids. We used to put the bed down in the back and leave town at 2AM to travel out to the Rockies for a couple weeks. It really was a cool way to travel.

Had a ragged out Dodge in the 80's, sold it and when the kids started getting older bought a new fully optioned Astro Van in the early 90's for $19k, leather captains chairs decent stereo plenty of room and great on the highway. They were the Suburbans / Tahoes of the day great for hunting / fishing trips could carry a ton of gear. Mine looked like the first pic, the last pic is a photoshop of a modern version. IWDI.

This van is around my area. Has a lord of the rings scene on one side and Star Wars on the other.

My dad still talks about his van. I’ve seen pics and it really was awesome. Desert mural on the side. Two swivel captains chairs, a bed, and a mini bar in the back. Everything covered in tan carpet.
