I went to colonial Williamsburg once. I was so triggered that I was in the hospital for 3 months. The privilege was so OMG.

Ok, I retract. No reasonable person is saying she shouldn't be offended. Now can you answer my question? How the frick is someone being rude news?

Being reasonable is just another way of exerting your white privilege.

That's why I'm ok with interacting with black people online. No matter how uppity they get, they can't make eye contact.

I mean, its probably not the most professional thing to do, but if I didn't understand what he was trying to say or thought he meant something specific I would have asked him right there.. Like "Aunt Jemima? What you trying to say?" instead of waiting to go to social media to tell everyone and make it into a big news story.

I'm a pretty sensitive person, but Even if it's racism it's no reason to let the ignorance of another bother you to that degree

I wonder if there were racial connotations or just syrup connotations. If she has "sugar diabetes" and her A1c was 12 or something, he could have said it to make a point that she basically has syrup flowing through her arteries. Or maybe he is a racist dick. Either way, it's obviously unprofessional.

Have we determined if she looks like Aunt Jemima? My mom had a friend growing up who was like 450 lbs and her name was Mrs. Pat. I accidentally called her Mrs. Fat one day. It was just a Freudian slip, but I felt really bad about it. Maybe this pt reminds him of syrup or something and he misspoke.

You can't see how a black woman would legitimately be offended by that?

I absolutely can.

Unless of course, she actually looks like Aunt Jemima.

The doctor is a dumbass. No professional in any position in this day and age should say that and expect to be OK. His business and reputation are shot and it wouldn't be if he simply would have shut his mouth and been professional. That being said, I don't believe her comment about losing sleep over it. I think her pain is driven by the want to sue him for money.

This isn't about a crime. It's about professionalism. What if you went to the doctor and he was a black dude and he comes in the room.. And not being someone you joke around with he says "Alright cracka, I am going to need to you turn around, drop your pants and spread your legs because I have to check up that white arse of yours" would you just ignore it and not tell anyone about it?

More "wtf why would you think that's a good idea" than blatantly offensive IMO.

What a dumbass.
