So I leave the cards on the desk in the room.

Maybe that slows them down?

They automatically deactivate at check out time in major hotels. If you've ever tried to extend your stay by a day, and gotten locked out of your room, this is why.

It doesn't slow them down, the maids just stack them on their carts and give them back to the front desks at the end of their shifts.

I'm nostalgic. I've kept every hotel key card I've ever had, and I write a memory of the trip on it with a sharpie. Then I put them in a card binder (like the ones we have for baseball cards) and I have a Cricut machine that I design a label on Canva and cut it out to put on the outside of each clear binder pocket with the Place and date of travel. really cool to look back and remember all the fun places me and my family have traveled over the past 30 years, from close places like Lafayette to England.

This might should be a spin off for Tom's hotel thread but why are hotel remotes soooo big?

They make me feel inadequate.

I do but not for any reason other than I just keep it in my wallet and then weeks later when I'm at the office and need to pay for something online, i take out the wallet - see the key - and put it in my desk drawer with a shite ton of other old keys.

Don't lie, you really keep them so you can use them to chop up your lines of coke.

No, we aren't in 2014-15 anymore.

But pro Tip, the plastic sleeves (top loaders) for pokemon and sports cards work the best.

As someone who despises clutter, this made me shudder IRL.

That's really sweet of you, though!

I always swap out my burned out light bulbs from home with ones from hotels. Haven’t bought a new bulb in 10 years.

I also always ask for extra towels so when I take them, the maids don’t notice any missing. Same for pillows.

Not at all. I use the app on my phone. Lets me not have to interact with anyone and sometimes it gives the added plus of getting into the room early.

Dude you are obviously on the spectrum. I used to keep the little shampoos and soaps for the hunting camp but my wife made me quit that

I was a Hilton diamond member for nearly a decade. Can’t imagine how many cards I’d have if I kept them.
