when other people accidently cause you physical pain....

and you can't really be a dick about it.
I was finishing up a stove for a customer. I said I had to go back and get something out the van, it wasn't ready yet. While I'm in the van, she turns all the burners on and turns them off.
I take a phone call and then go back in.
First thing I do is grab the burner I needed to take back off.
And I heard and smelled my hand sizzle. Hurts like a bitch. I wanted to lash out and scream at this little old lady.
Instead I finished the job, went in my van and just screamed. had burn cream and with a glove and cream it's not bad
But damn. Then the lady only had cash and was short $62 so I just said I would invoice her landlord (odd araingment where this landlord's tenants pay and he takes off of rent)
Hand throbbing, I saw red, but just had to smile and say "Merry Christmas"

My mother in law slammed my hand in her car door about 20 years ago. She brought us some kind of pie or cake over every day for a month afterward.

Had a guy come to my house to install a dishwasher.
It did not fit in the same hole as the last dishwasher and my wife is picky so I had someone do it for me.
He asked me to turn off the power to the dishwasher.
I flipped the fuse labeled "Dishwasher / Oven" to the off position.
I then watched him twitch a few times and roll up like a ball.
He was pissed. I felt awful.
He was 5'7 I'm 6'4.
So I cut the power to the entire house and gave him a $40.00 tip.

As a property manager who fixes appliances, I almost always turn the breaker off.

1 is more than enough in fact 3/4 is the more common, 1/2 too small.
Frigidaire, Whirlpool or Kitchenaid. (the last two are same company)
Check out "Appliance Parts Depot" they have been running great deals on them. They sell retail there less than most wholesale. Insinkerator is another well known brand, but to be honest, most disposals are made by a Whirlpool company and then farmed out.

As far as today. I really couldn't lock out power. I did the repair, and just went to get those burner bezels that go under the burner, I needed one more.
I didn't think they would go and mess with it while I was out the house.
Learned a lesson.
Dishwashers are such a pain to turn the power off to most times, that i just work on them hot. I'll carefully remove and cap the black wire and be good.
A lot of houses have the dish wired into lights or outlets.

No, and they were short, double whammy, now I have to bill the landlord the residual and hope I get paid.
At least I got free seafood gumbo today, that still made today a good day.
