It’s not a negative thing to seek out the betterment of your mental heath. Go now. Continue the practice. There doesn’t have to be “something wrong” to seek out help.

It sounds like you need a hobby. Something you can pour you heart into.

It appears making money was something you thought would give you fulfillment, but that isn’t working.

I’d suggest finding something that you love, something that gives you true mental or physical fulfillment or satisfaction.

Yeah. I don't think I am depressed right now. I always get a little down around the holidays season. December is always a tough month because being single plus you have more down time it kind of exacerbates the problem. I have some great friends - hard working, good, Christian - but I feel like my door with them is different now at 30 than it was at 25 when we were all single. The relationship is different. It feels like there is always a void in my week...no self-actualization at all
go to Whole Foods or something equivalent and get some vitamin D tincture to take under your tongue

As a doctor, it's ALWAYS OK to seek medical help. No physician would turn you away with a concern about mental health. Even if they could not help you directly, getting plugged into the mental health system is something that any doctor can do.

Good luck my friend.

Have you ever built a piece of furniture, something that requires your concentration, rather than worrying about yourself?

Can you say you've done something selfless in the past year? Could you call the local Veterans Administration and find someone who needs some attention.

You don't exist as an island, but as part of something much larger. Look outside while you are searching for some professional to talk to.

This. Sometimes it’s just good to talk to someone whose a professional. I wouldn’t hesitate to talk to a therapist if you feel so compelled.

I'd suggest going to see a therapist.

My god I hate therapists. I would never, ever want to discuss my stress with some gd stranger who thinks he knows better than I do. But it must help some people so to each his own.

Find a good therapist. One of my two children is your age and she put herself in therapy for the same issues you are having. She said it was the best thing she ever did. Family cannot be objective with you; a competent therapist can.

You just sound like most Americans who are over worked and under paid who is caught up in the rat race. I don't know if you are willing to relocate or cut down on your current cost of living but a lot of times it is better to be happy living with less than having more but working all the time.

Maybe when the robots come around and take over the job market we can finally sit on our asses and drink 40oz and just collect that check.

There is zero shame in asking for help. It's okay to seek help anytime you feel like you may need it. My oldest son has mental health issues, and we talk a lot about speaking up and asking for help. Don't let yourself get to a point where you can't find the surface. If you feel like you need help or even may benefit from an ear, reach out now. Don't wait.

(stupid to say, but if you know the placebo effect is happening, it isn't going to work).

Interestingly, this isn't necessarily accurate. I read a print article on brain science two years ago, and it referred to a pain management study where some participants who were getting a placebo were told it was a placebo and it worked anyway.

The problem is the only thing that fixes anything now is the ability to pay and keep paying.

Our society is like that life of an addict. If you can keep paying, you really have no problem. Can't pay? World ends.

most important, you have to make YOU happy...prescription drugs or suicide is not the answer.have a talk with a dr. maybe more than one to help you find your happiness.

If you are concerned enough to share it on this board, go seek help. Depression is a dangerous deadly thing that doesn't magically go away by itself.

We're the same age. I get what you're saying regarding people pleasing, sans a few other differences.

I've been in therapy for ten years. I could've quit going 8 years ago but I have found that I just completely enjoy having a third party as an outlet to talk about life with. My therapist offers me different perspectives, and while it seems simple, I always walk away with something valueable gained. Even if you didn't grow up in a family with addiction and/or abuse, therapy is still extremely helpful in all aspects of our busy lives.

If you have health insurance, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
