Nothing wrong with parents being proud of their children. Let them brag and support their kids.

Obviously 8 year old baseball tournaments are trashy, but what about 14 year old elite 11 rankings? Or state tournament pics? I say once they start playing high school athletics it is okay. Before then nobody cares.

I text my mom and dad and my in laws about my youngest son's weekend baseball achievements, if they won a tournament, he went 4 for 4 or something like that and my oldest son's wrestling tournament results.

Now when my oldest won the Louisiana State Championship Division 1 wrestling tournament in 2020, I posted that on FB. I was so damn proud, he worked is arse off for 7 years to earn that title his senior year. I wanted all of my friends and family to know, I didn't care if anyone thought it was trashy to do so!

For my short 2 year time on social media I loved that stuff because I loved my friends and family and shared joy at their achievements and accomplishments. I quickly realized I was an outlier.

I’m not on social media to see what family and friends are up to… I’m there to find rage bait to bring to TD because I’m well adjusted and the people posting about their kids’ accomplishments are insecure

When he makes it to the big leagues, you can post a picture of you and him on the field before the game. Anything before that and you cross the line.

Facebook was designed to share close friends. Everyone having 1000 friends so they can keep up w everyone and be jealous has made it unbearable.

I don’t do Facebook but my wife does and some folks put everything on it

Everything on social media is about motives

If your motive for posting about your kid's athletic accomplishments is to draw attention to yourself, you suck (this is probably most of the instances)

If your primary motive is to inform family/friends and celebrate an achievement of your kid in shared fashion, that's great.

Of course, most very-online moms will do the former on the claimed basis of the latter.

Not exactly in the realm of "success"

The weird ones are the ones who pimp out their daughters on FB. "Isn't (name of boyfriend) handsome!"

In one of the train nerd FB groups, there's a guy whose daughter in high school (a Senior) has a huge rack. On his personal page, he is always posting some picture of her, either with tons of cleavage or in a bikini. It is creepy as hell.

Facebook is great if used correctly. If you only include real friends and family on your feed, then that's the original purpose of facebook. I enjoy seeing my cousin's kids scoring a Touchdown or my friend's son winning homecoming king, or my nephew hitting homeruns, or my DJ friend rocking a nightclub.

If you remove all of the friends on your list that aren't actually friends but somehow became friends on FB over the years, Facebook is actually great

I don’t social media much but for FB I would keep it to a small group of family and close friends.

For the general public, and maybe just for key games something generic like “So proud of the Washington High Warriors victory over Whatever High!”

I will say when my children’s friends accomplish something noteworthy, I am genuinely happy for them. This is especially true if I know they worked really hard for something. I am always more impressed with academic or career accomplishments.
