When does a Richard become a Dick?

Yes, 40 years ago.

Now there are no Richards, much less Dicks.

I always prefer dick.

I’ve known a Richard since elementary school (‘60s).
He’s been a dick as long as I’ve known him.
Also worked for a guy named Richard and he was a dick.

I have enough Dick when I’m all by myself.

I’d rather consider when Kate can let me pet and call her cat.

Why would anyone willingly allow that to be their nickname?

When I was like 9 or so, someone called the house asking for Ricky. I said he had the wrong number and he seemed confused but that was that.

Later I told my parents and my Dad knew who it was. I didn’t connect Richard to Ricky. No one ever called him that.
