That must be why there are threads constantly whining about "the main stream media."

I am a PT junkie, and I agree.

Threads need to be moved with a quickness.

in all seriousness, yes the OT has been flooded with the abortion discussions this week. Understandably so. But it’ll slow down in a week or so or the admins will take this thread into consideration and start moving them to the PT.

no reason for folks to get upset

But I also see an obvious issue when we start passing laws based on interpretation of religion.

When did this happen for you to see it as an “obvious issue?”

It started with Covid, carried over into BLM and is now just the norm.

i’d also question why he chose “interpretation of religion” instead of the more accurate depiction of “interpretation of the constitution”

He was putting his political spin on things.

Just like SixthAndBarone does.

It’s called hypocrisy.

That being said, the OT got sideways with Covid.

We needed a Covid board at the time.

I like the idea of a “current events” board.

Just my .02.

How about gas prices, can I do my bitching about gas prices here? That’s easily tied to “politics”. Or what about crime in NOLA? Politics/Mayor SuchnSuch yadda yadda. How about a new MS River bridge and possible location? That’ll definitely dip into the political realm.

Point being, there’s no set parameters for what constitutes “political discussion” and some other lifestyle matter that ultimately involves the state legislature. My unsolicited suggestion is for everyone to relax and be nice. And only speak in certainties when one is certain that they’re correct. I’m bad about that myself from time to time.

The admins should start by nuking the laughable Russia/Ukraine War thread on this board. It's full of nothing but reddit propaganda.

This is a slippery slope that will lead to Outdoor Board threads being posted on the Movie/TV board and Tech threads being posted on the More Sports Board.

Edit: In any case, to answer the OP, it occurred with the Poliboard became a Q-anon circle jerk and the people who wanted to have thoughtful political discussions migrated over here.

Be careful what you wish for. At which point they start nuking content for being regurgitated propaganda, the entire PT is wiped

Apples and oranges. There is literally a politics board specifically for it. Like I said, y'all just don't like not getting enough attention there.

Complaining about politics on the OT is completely different than complaining about politics on CNN. That's literally what it's for.

you have to sift through, but I use it quite often to catch up on the latest on goings. I can get caught up on the current thing in a fraction of the time it would take me to surf many different sites.

The distinction I would draw is that discussion of issues is inherently fine no matter the subject, but discussion of individual politicians (outside of scandals, etc) and political parties is “political”.

Are you suggesting an Abortion Board?
Not all who kill their spawn are politically aware.
