re: When did the myth that eating unhealthy processed foods is cheaper than eating healthy?

Its not bullshite at all...
I bought a pack of chicken breast yesterday at sams
Sliced it open, dumped in slow cooker, drizzled sauce let it cook on low for 8 hrs over night. Ready when I woke up. Took legit 5 minutes to prepare.
I cooked some rice in the microwave before work, while I was eating breakfast this morning.
Threw in a pack of frozen broccoli right after. All of 10 minutes.
Enough food for 3 days in 15 minutes of preparation.
You are doing something wrong if you can’t meal prep in an hour

You people are more insufferable than crossfitters.

So you are cooking them too much and then not making them finish what they dont eat. This is all your fault man. Yes it's a chore, its parenting.
Some kids dont eat much and will survive on snacks. Theyll even skip dinner altogether cause they dont want to eat whatever it is. Knowing theyll get up the next morning and get to eat something they like.
That's when you hand them that leftover plate for breakfast.
My family is very healthy, we are fine. Our parenting is fine too.
Just giving a personal perspective on how I think this situation might effect, like I said below in the post you responded to

But the point is the whole food situation is complicated with young kids, getting them to eat right is a chore and some people don’t have that luxury to perform the chore. So assuming people are fat because they can’t meal prep like a single guy in their 20s is dumb, I’m practically begging my kids to eat more

So it was 15 minutes except for the time you didn't feel like counting?

So you can order the whole menu for your kids and then they can pick what fried shite they want?

Well frick man, I cooked 4 soups the other night to freeze. I think it took me 4 hours including the dishes. But it made like 60 servings.
That's like 2 weeks of food (just dinner) for 4 people. And soup is pretty fricking easy.
Yeah, I can throw shite in a slow cooker and microwave rice. But some of us like to actually cook GOOD food sometimes.

Not new. I can remember the episode of Good Times when James Evans had hypertension and I seem to recall diet being mentioned and excuses that poor people only had access to unhealthy food.

You picked the food that uses the most dishes and most prep, of course that takes longer, but it's also probably about the same per serving as everything else.
While you were cooking the soup you could have also thrown another week's worth of meat in the air fryer. There 3 weeks worth of food in 4 hours, or about an hour a week

I'm not cooking meat in a slow cooker and microwaving veggies all the time.
Some of us like GOOD food and dont just make shite to slam down our throats for workout fuel.

Guarantee my food is just as good as yours, especially since most soup sucks arse anyway

Just no. Throwing some shitty chicken breast in a slow cooker with rotel will not be better than a crafted meal. frick off.

I dont see what the reward is for all the time you invest in arguing over this shite.

Well considering you only eat meat and microwaved vegetables on occasion, I'll go ahead and call bullshite.

There is some truth to it, but it is an overly used myth.
There is a reason why Whole Foods can cater to a higher income bracket. You are getting better quality food than the average grocery store. The average restaurant should give you better quality food than a drive through. You will pay a bit more, but it isn't a necessity of sacrificing health for cost.
The issue is with processed food is trans fats, which is a made up cheat to get around reporting how unhealthy shite like Kraft foods are for the consumer. Many countries outside the US doesn't allow for trans fats because it is an unhealthy bullshite ingredient.
On basic premise you are right. You can shop and eat healthy foods that are not much more expensive. Proceeded and fast food are more convenient and you can get more for less, but it isn't grossly different in cost overall.

Mingo is just a male Karen. Bitches about everything instead of worrying about himself.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of people like this.
