It started in 1963 when the SCOTUS kicked God out of schools and the public square.
The destruction of the US has been steady ever since.
Every measurement metric of educational/societal/criminal/psychotic degradation backs this up.

Total POS. He literally had never accomplished anything, was elected POTUS, and given the Nobel Peace Prize. He’s literally never done anything other than read a teleprompter. At this point he’s damaged goods for the dems and no one wants anything to do with him.

When merit became a secondary or tertiary component of selection criteria.
When subversion to a radical 5-10% outpaced common goals.

Early 2000s internet was glorious. AIM was epic

June 29th 2007 the day the iPhone got released.
There is a lot of truth to this, as anyone in the workforce these days knows there is a very clear demarcation between people that were in their late teens and older before this date, and all the younger people after.
I was 20 when that first iPhone came out (and thus the smartphone with internet/apps/social media). I was old enough that I had almost completed college by the time I even had a smartphone. The difference between people my age, and even just a FEW years younger is vast.
This also goes hand in hand with the answers that say the advent of social media. I would also argue that at this same time, the Internet created online gaming and gamer/meme culture sprouted out of it. Pretty much all of these school shootings and other tragic events recently were perpetrated by people DEEP into gamer culture and meme/edgelords; people addicted to social media and disillusioned by political brainwashing they're constantly fed by algorithms on all platforms

Iraq war was the start. Prior to that USA was seen as this shining beacon and protector of freedom and democracy that led the world in economic prosperity, cultural relevance and moral righteousness..
Whether you agree or not a ton of people who once admired the USA saw the Iraq war as a huge mistake and this took away from America's mystique.
That's what allowed Obama to get elected and he proceeded to highlight America's imperfections non-stop which resulted in the America-critical activist class taking control of the Democratic party... which resulted in the MAGA backlash and here we are today more divided than ever.

Incorporating the most of the bill of rights to the states and doing it over time and especially slow with the 2nd amendment has been problematic. Doing it with the first amendment didn’t make sense since it was so explicitly written as limit on Congress, but with situations in places like Dearborn, Michigan and “Little Somalia” Minnesota I am not sure it can switched back to fix it. Sharia law would take those states over as more and more muslims moved in.
Amendment written to limit federal govt’s ability to abuse its power was basically then used to grow the federal govt’s power over the states with power of enforcement with incorporation. State issues became national issues.
