And this is going to sound really mean. A fat person looks sloppy and unhireable to me even when wearing a suit

Personally I'd rather shop at Fresh Market because the selection there is a frickton better.

Unless it's TP/toiletries/etc. Then it's Wally World all the way

Well, that also plays into the decision. But, the atmosphere makes it actually feel like an enjoyable errand, as opposed to Walmart.

I'm a very easy going and unstressed person, but there is just something about a pretentious fashion frick that makes me see red.

Thanks, bro.

Seriously, I was just trying to make a point. I don't wear wife beaters, and I hate flip flops. But honestly, my kids are almost grown, I have a good career, and I have no one to impress as I move about on my own time. If I was on the market and trying to impress the ladies, then obviously I would tighten it up a bit. But I'm not.

Life is pretty fricking insignificant. I will rock my shitty looking t shirt and old gym shorts when I don't have to dress up for work. I'm not trying to impress anyone when I'm out in public and not working.

I just don't understand this attitude. I get you have no one to impress, but it's like staying in shape. Yeah you have no one to impress, but that doesn't have to stop you from dressing nice and having pride/confidence in yourself. Dressing nice shows that you care and put forth some effort, and there's nothing wrong with that. Dressing like shite shows you got up at 7:45 to be somewhere at 8, giving the appearance that you don't care about wherever you are/whatever you're doing.

Because maybe we don't give a shite about other people's opinions of us based on appearance.

I keep my beard trimmed and neat, and if I'm working on something and need to run to the store, to hell if I care what someone thinks of my paint-stained, sawdust-covered, hole-in-the-knee jeans.

For that matter, if I throw on some basketball shorts and flipflops to go to the store, don't give a damn then either.

Clothes don't make the man. I've known some well-dresses assholes in my life.

I think there is a difference between a guy who dresses very casual while running into the grocery store on the weekend and someone during the week looking like they just rolled out of bed with their hair not combed and shitty wrinkly clothes.

The first example is just being casual. The second example shows they don't give a shite and look unkempt.

Man I have to be tucked in, leather belt. Untucked shirts and wearing jeans/pants w/o a belt, I can't take it. My wife gives me shite b/c I tuck my t-shirt in my shorts at times around the house.

I've gotten to where if I leave the house I have a collared shirt on. It may have holes in it but it's collared.
