When did parents start turning Easter into a mini Christmas

Every parent that I know has bought 2 or 3 items to give to their kid Easter morning or awaiting them in an Easter basket. When I grew up you got some chocolate in the morning went to church then ate Easter dinner with the extended family and that was that. Why is there so much extra bullshite nowadays

I am 44. We got toys and shite along with candy for Easter.

We have this thread every year. I mostly agree with you but it is still way less stressful than Christmas and has an awesome message. I love Easter.

This is a commercial campaign. I read an article some years ago about companies trying to make Easter like "Xmas". I guess it's finally paying off

We always had baskets with candy and small gifts waiting when we got back from our boat ride. 3 good sized families crammed in my grandparents’ 1 bathroom camp, water out of the tap not safe to drink, same ugly arse gold egg every year grandma put loose change in. Those are good memories.

We always got a few small things but now companies are advertising Easter presents like it's Christmas. Saw a commercial a few years ago that tried to make it seem like getting a new car for Easter was the trend

We used to get candy and a few toys. Maybe a Nintendo game or something along that range. I don't know if it's always happened and it's just more visible on social media but I am surprised at some of the spending I see these days. Their money though so whatever.

I got Easter candy when I was a kid for Easter. However, it seems that toys are replacing candy as gifts and the candy is purchased for them throughout the Easter season.

I got an Easter basket with green straw. It had a chocolate bunny with pecan roils and heavenly hash. Had some miniature chocolate eggs to crunch. I think we had two soft boiled eggs. There wasn’t any video games or money involved. This was back during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.
