Been several years since I haven’t done it myself. Years ago I paid $20. Just left Jiffy Lube and paid $107!!!!! I know they use the synthetic stuff now but damn.

You left out the part about $20 Dino oil lasting 3,000 miles and $107 Synthetic Oil lasting 10,000 miles. Add the “years ago” statement/cost of goods & wages and YEP.

Get you an oil suction pump and you don't even have to get dirty or go underneath the car.

I got that setup when I had a BMW and it worked pretty slick since it had the cannister style filter up top in the front.

Also used it on the truck even though the filter is on the bottom. The drain plug shoots out the side, versus straight down, so when it was warm it would overshoot the drain pan.

When did guys get too candy-arse to change their own oil?

I'm not putting a vehicle on jacks/jack stands to change the oil.

I change the oil in my truck. Not my car.

Amen White Bear. Ford makes shite, plastic shite and I won’t buy another vehicle from them. Also now that I’m on my soap box… WTF is it with vehicles not having spares anymore? Horse shite…

Let the pros do it for $50.

What pros?

Every quick lube has high school dropouts doing their work.

My mother in law had Express Oil cross thread her oil pain drain plug and came out the next day to a half a quart of oil in her garage.

$30 and a waste of your fricking time for a menial and dirty task.

Really? I change the oil and mow the grass at the same time. Inside an hour, oil is changed, grass is mowed, and I’m drinking beer about to throw burgers on the grill.

What kinda pussy are you.

I worked at Jiffy Lube in 1991. A basic oil change back then was $24. I think it was $60 for synthetic. A basic oil change. Now is what, $40?

I do my Tacoma's oil changes myself because it's easy to get under and fit a drain pan, and the filter is easy to get to.

On the other hand, my wife has an Accord that is impossible to work under without ramps and it's still hard to fit a drain pan under. For hers I'll take it to one of those quick change places and it usually costs around $90. I was shocked the first time I took it too, as I hadn't used one of those places in at least 10 years.

Y'all can give the man shite for not changing his own oil, but sometimes it's not practical with a smaller/lower vehicle if you don't have a pit.

The local Wally has bought more than one new engine due to forgetting to tighten the drain plug.

I pay way more than that for a diesel at the dealership but it’s worth it because they come pick it up at my office and leave me a loaner

My 5.7 Toyota V8 engine takes 8 quarts at least x $8 or so a quart is $64 plus $10 for a filter is $74. I pay about $110 at the dealership for change. Is $40 or so savings worth not crawling around and sweating my butt off and getting dirty and then disposing of the old oil? Hell no. Someone else can do that for me.
