re: When did it become acceptable to bring your pet to grocery stores and restaurants?

I ran into some woman's "service dog" with my cart at a target earlier this year. She started yelling at me and I told her she shouldn't even have her mutt in there. She caused such a scene that the manager told her to leave.
I fully support euthanasia of stupid pet owners now.

You basically get to ask two questions: if the animal is a service animal and what task is it trained for. If the people lie then you can have them to remove the animal.

It ain’t acceptable… it’s just what society accepts now…all standards have been lowered to do whatever you want to as long as it ain’t breaking any laws…

When did we as a society start allowing this happen? I know people lie about them being “service” animals, but it’s past time we put a stop to this shite.
Many of the greatest civilisations in the world had cultures like this regarding dogs

When we started calling our dogs….our children.

Very common in Europe in stores, restaurants.
I don't like it personally. It's distracting.

Everyone’s dog is a service dog now! Don’t you know?

Many have but bringing dogs inside is unique, most dog friendly establishments have outdoor seating

Not sure why you have an objection if the dog was well behaved.
If the dog is well behaved, you would not notice unless you happened to be seated next to them or you catch them coming and going. The problem is most are not well behaved, barking when people/waiter approaches, jumping on chair, roaming around the general area… these are the people OP and many others are referring to.
The actual properly trained service animals that lay right next to or under the owner the entire time often go unnoticed. But are also very rare because I suspect 90% of service/support animals are BS because the owner is “special”

What blew my mind is how many dogs are at home depot/lowes. It's an outright anomaly, at least a dozen dogs in the store at any given time and it's not even remotely close to that anywhere else. It's a rarity actually.

Dog owners think everyone loves dogs. I’m not a fan of dogs and hate going to places that accept dogs.

I’m not sure. But I know about a month ago my wife and I stopped in at a Longhorn restaurant in Gadsden for dinner. Not sure where it was, but someone in there had a little yapping dog. No way this could be a service dog. It sounded like it was something like a a little yapping terrier of some sort. I was shocked the manager let the thing in there.
I doubt the manager on a local level had any say so. Corporate decision and rules I am sure.

A vet told me once to take my dog to Home Depot. I said I’m not a take my dog everywhere kind of person. He said yeah but you need to socialize. I understand, but Home Depot?
After I retired from the military I train service dogs and basic obedience. This is a terrible idea if your dog has never been in public. The sheer size of the aisles will scare him. Go somewhere small like tractor supply or similar first. Also walk your dog around the parking lot a little before you go in. It sounds stupid but it helps. A LOT.

When I grew up the only place we brought our dog to was camping. Otherwise he never left the house in a vehicle. He was a smaller dog. Vets were few and far between. Went to a vet one time in the 60s. Times have changed. We don't have a dog now that all the kids are gone. They all have a dog and want to bring them over. I tell them keep them outside bc I just don't feel like cleaning up behind them. The hair ball thing is crazy. I have a sis-in-law who brings her mutt to every get together all the time. That's just retarded. No one loves your dog enough to enjoy you bringing them to their house.

It's past time we enforce a lot of rules society has eroded over time, dogs everywhere is high on the list.

wife will sometimes bring our two dasuhands into the grocery store
Your wife is a horrible person. Just like the arseholes that put their kids in the food part of the shopping cart with their shite covered shoes, booger covered iPads, etc.
There was a ... special person... who brought her shitty dog to a grocery, which proceeded to do nearly every thing you wouldn't want a dog to do besides shite in the aisle. The employees said they weren't allowed to say anything to that oxygen thief, because the last time they did, someone called a local news station and they did a segment about discriminating against dumb women from the pasta aisle.
