When King Obama took over the white house and single handedly brought our country from greatness to dog shite.

Bro, you can make more begging and soliciting for personal donations in some parts of major cities than you could working a 9-5...

It's out of control in Houston. I understand falling on hard times but there are hundreds of permanent homeless people. The sad thing is the enablers that think they're doing good. Bringing them warm meals, clothes, blankets.

These people trash everything and make the city look like a cesspool. The least they could do would be to clean up after themselves. It disgusts me esp when they use God as a reason to help them. I always ask them if God would be happy with the way they've decided to treat the blessing of life and health he has given them.

Oh yes. Who can forget the weekly segments on panhandlers when Bush was in office.

They're not homeless, they're panhandlers. Panhandling is a great way to make a living off middle-class guilt.

Like the chick who begs on Carrollton. Says she's pregnant, but she actually just has ascites. Her stomach has been swollen for as long as I've been seeing her which is about 2 years.

It's very convincing though if you'd never seen her

I'm down there about once a month and I've seen here. I thought she was rocking on of those prosthetics because she never progressed and always looks at the same stage of pregnancy. I guess she doesn't care that people who are down there regularly see her getting dropped off in a car, smoking, etc., and is more counting on one-time visitors.

But, the whole crew at Carrolton/Earhart is disappointing. They don't push a homeless appearance, they don't work on their signs - just a lackluster effort from that crew most mornings I'm there.

There used to be a chick who would wear like yoga pants and she actually looked like she would have been attractive in another life, without all the meth

It's actually illegal to panhandle in Jefferson Parish.. That's why you don't see it as often there..

They also seem to police it. I live in Algiers and these assholes stand on Bherman Hwy right on the Orleans/Jefferson line being sure to always be on the Orleans side. The crazy guy that's usually there is at least entertaining. He marches in place, screams at the sky, has conversations with his hand, etc.

If I'm in a downtown-ish area of a big city I expect to get asked if I can spare a few bucks. Usually I'm polite and just say sorry I don't have cash or something.

The other day I was in wal-mart (I know...I was just running in for batteries though) and I was knelt down at the little battery kiosk. So I'm not just walking around, I'm actively engaged in something with packs of batteries in my hand comparing. This dude taps me on teh shoulder and goes "excuse me sir, looks like you're busy so I won't keep you long. I just gave away the rest of my money, in Charleson....for cancer. I'm trying to get a greyhound for..." and I just said can't do it man.

Guess you had to be there really but I thought it was comical how somehow this guy is like 5 hours from charleston yet somehow gave up his money there, then to tack on the ".....for cancer!". As if that'd make the story better lol.
