Haven't yet. I found I enjoyed working with adventure tours, so I went back to that. I suppose if that gets old, I will find something else.
I've been wanting to reach out to you after your summer job thread a while back. Mind if I email you one day?

I was about 11 years old, back in 1995 when I bought a book on HTML and taught myself. I got a degree in Philosophy from Auburn almost a decade ago and now I manage websites in corporate marketing for a $4billion/yr software company.
Really I think watching Sandra Bullock in The Net back in the mid 90's was a major factor in my career. Working on a laptop from the beach & ordering a pizza online sold me on the future.

As long as you get into the right job sales is a great job and not that hard
I've watched lots of guys get the "right job" and wash out/fail and get fired after 1 year where their predecessor worked 30 hours a week and made 200k+,
You also have to be the right person and have the right skills for the right sales job.

How can you tell if sales is right for you? Do you cold call a lot?

In high school when I took my first computer science class, and was pretty good at Apple II programming. In or around 1997, the internet exploded, and I knew I was destined for a career in computer science.

I decided no one was making shorts and pants cool enough for me, so I decided to rectify the problem. I'll let you know how it pans out.

I don't do it enough but I love to do it when I have time. I've really built my territory up well so I don't have as much time

I always had a good time going to Ole Miss football games and the grove. I figured why not be a proctologist since I enjoy being around a bunch of assholes.

I will say this about my sales experience, my initial sales job the company was awesome. If you made your quota, they don't give a shite what you do during the day or how many cold calls you make.
When the new company came in and bought the company, they pretty much changed everything and ran it like a boiler room. Tracked your cold calls, tracked your emails. You had to have an extremely high amount of out going cold calls for the week. Sucked it up for about the past year while I looked for new work and finally got out.
Like someone said, right company sales jobs can be great. Wrong company, it can suck bad.
