I like how it has the slider toggle to advance the time forward and backward to help get a read on where things are heading.

Read your local forecast discussion from the NWS.
Radarscope but a good free radar is plenty.
Something that can give you temp, humidity, and wind.

Big fire seen clearly on radar right now near Reno. Not sure of the name of it. It is legit on radar, though.

CC and zdr with the obvious smoke. I see it.

How accurate do you think the Enhanced Echo Tops are on the smoke coming off fires like that?

Good enough for a rough guess.

It was hitting at around 15-20k feet earlier. I've never thought to pay much attention to it with smoke, though.

That fire is around 500 acres now. I mentioned the wildfire overlay on MyRadar earlier. It isn't the most up-to-date, but it does link directly to the official websites with the current info with active/reported fires on the map.

It's telling you how high the radar beam is that is hitting something. Not like it's using temperature to estimate height. Ought to be a decent estimate to be honest, especially with proximity to Reno radar.

I was reading up on the monsoon season some earlier and the dry thunderstorms/lightning moving into the CA and NV area. That's a scary thought with how dry it is and the potential for shite to get bad in a hurry.

I look out my living room window, maybe open the front door to check the temperature.

A pic from that fire in Markleeville:

Weather underground used to be accurate within 15 minutes of forecasted rain 10 years ago. Now it’s total shite, and often get redirects to spam sites,
The iPhone weather.com app has been accurate to the minute on the last few rain forecasts.
Still looking for something more detailed for hunting season, though.
