Every time I see a new Corvette it’s always some old grey haired guy driving it. It got me thinking….when the kids are away and I can blow some money, what’s my old man fun car going to be? Also, just assume there will already be a truck in the garage.

Caveats…I’m not dropping a ton on some Italian super car and I want a convertible. I still have hair so I want it to blow in the breeze.

BMW’s are a maintenance nightmare and I don’t want to look like some sorority pledge.

Japanese convertibles are for wives.

Audi’s are kinda cool but don’t have the kinda balls I want to display when peeling out of the Publix parking lot.

I’m thinking a Mustang 5.0 Shelby. They have good lines and aren’t over engineered like some German rattletrap. What do you think?

Edit - okay I fricked up the model….shows how much time I’ve spent actually looking into it.

Can confirm. My wife drives one (not a baller model). The latest is a phantom leak. The mechanic can't find it but everytime it rains the carpet gets soaked.

06 Miata convertible

On hot days it’s like driving a jet ski and not in a good way. A way where the sun bakes you you bounce around and it rattles like a shopping cart.

Yeah…I’m 6’5 so that shite isn’t going to work. I worked at a Mazda lot in college and got to drive one of the first models. My head was above the top of the windshield and I could barely work the clutch because my leg kept getting jammed between the door and the wheel.

I was like Magilla Gorilla driving that fricking thing.

It is kinda funny. At this point, I don't even think you can think of a Vette as "cool" anymore. It might as well be a Lincoln Town Car from back in the early 80s.

Dunny really. I'm about 5-10 years from my old man car and it'll probably be electric

I kinda lost my thing for German "luxury" cars when I spent time in Germany and noticed that there, the exact same cars were basically considered like a Camry or Malibu are here.

Yes but the leak seams to be coming from behind the dashboard or through a door panel.
